Viking-Era Ornamental Dragon Designed as Warrior Adornment By Jessica Astral Odyssey
This is my interpretation of a Viking-era ornamental dragon, designed as a warrior adornment for the upper chest and arm. The composition is built from a foundation of Scandinavian knotwork, interlacing dragon motifs, and runic inscriptions chosen by the client for personal meaning. Inspired by Norse carvings and Viking weapon engravings, the tattoo flows with deliberate symmetry, combining dotwork, engraving-style texture, and bold linework to evoke the essence of old-world Nordic craftsmanship. Executed entirely in blackwork, the dragon coils with symbolic strength, guarding the wearer like a mythical sentinel. Each rune marks a piece of the client's journey—binding heritage, warrior spirit, and ritualistic protection into the ink. This piece stands as both an ornamental artifact and a living tribute to dark medieval aesthetics and mythic Scandinavian art.
